With Lawrence High and Free State High playing a football game on campus for the first time tonight, be advised.
“Arrive early … absolutely,” Free State athletic director Mike Hill said. “Car-pooling would be very beneficial.”
After a dozen years of battling at Haskell Stadium, the first campus clash in the city rivalry will be at 7 p.m. at Free State’s stadium.
The most abundant parking will be in the large lot north of the main school building. Tailgating will be allowed in certain areas, Hill said, but not until 4 p.m.
Hill also stressed that parking is not allowed on grass areas.
Lawrence High fans will sit on the east side at the stadium. In fact, they’ll be the first fans to sit in those seats because construction wasn’t completed until Thursday.
During the Firebirds’ first four home games, visiting fans sat on the west side with the Free State backers.
