Woodlawn School earns state awards

Woodlawn School has received three Confidence in Kansas Education Certificates of Merit for third-grade reading and math and fifth-grade reading.

The sixth annual challenge awards recognize schools for outstanding achievement and uncommon accomplishment based on Kansas assessment results from 2009.

“By receiving this award, your school stands as an excellent example of one that believes all children can learn, expects them to do so, and gives them an opportunity to demonstrate their substantial abilities,” said Charles Volland, the task force chairman.

Woodlawn will be honored during the 2009 Challenge Awards Recognition Dinner on Nov. 12 in Salina.

The organization awarded 132 certificates in Kansas, and 29 schools, including Woodlawn, received two or more awards.
