Roof work at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center soon will cause the leisure pool at the facility to temporarily close.

The leisure pool will close on Monday to accommodate the roof work. It is expected to be closed for about two weeks.

The work also has caused the city to cancel the Spoon ‘n Splash event scheduled for the pool on Oct. 24.

Swim lessons that were scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 19 also will be postponed for one week.

The lap pool at the aquatic center will reopen on Monday. Currently, the lap pool is closed as roof work over that portion of the pool is under way.

The reopening of the lap pool will cause the city to end the extended hours of the Carl Knox Natatorium.

The natatorium will return to its regular fall hours of 5:15 a.m. to 8 a.m. once the lap pool reopens.
