The city’s Parks and Recreation Department was given approval to start a public process to determine what the community’s more pressing recreation needs are.

The department will hold at least two public meetings in late October or early November to hear what Parks and Recreation facilities are most wanted by the public.

Department leaders then will bring back a final report to city commissioners ranking the priorities and listing some possible funding options.

The report is expected to be done by the end of the year.
