Letters to the Editor

Mangino fans

November 28, 2009

To the editor:

To all of you who are perfectionists: Mark Mangino is the same man all of you praised last year and the year before for bringing Kansas football front and center. Mark Mangino was named Coach of the Year for the nation. We won the Orange Bowl! This is the same man who coached that win. We called him “Mr. Wonderful.” He was the hero of the University of Kansas.

How many of you have never lost your temper? Think on this and be fair with Mangino. Get off his back. Let him stay and be the head coach and if you feel you have to do something to right any wrongs, send him to an anger management course. (Some of you might consider going with him!)

We want Mark Mangino to stay!

I am not a perfectionist. I don't expect perfection from myself or others. However, Mangino has expressed no remorse over his embarrassing tirades that he has displayed since arriving in Lawrence. Whether it is his poor sportsmanship at his son's LHS football game, his demeaning behavior toward a lowly student parking department worker or his profanity-laced tirade toward a player that is available for the world to view on you tube, he has displayed a complete lack of discipline and self-control. This is the man who is supposed to be coaching the players. Who cares if he was coach of the year? He's an awful role model and a bully. Good riddance!

I totally agree with the letter writer.

And Hitler got Germany Poland. And I'll leave that celebration to the Germans.

And 'KEITHMILES05' what is the point of an anonymous post telling us that you agree with this letter? For all we know you could have written the thing.

I agree with ilovetocook. Mangino has had one winning Big12 record in his 8 years. One. And that was a year he didn't play the big boys. He has never won the North much less the conference. He is now on a 7 game losing skid against some teams that he should have beaten. I think KU fans should expect more than something less than mediocre.

Plenty of money is being spent on coaches and facilities at KU and it is time to expect more than being a bottom feeder in the very weak Big12 North. It is time for Mangino to go.

His personal attack on the young person that gave him a parking ticket and his actions at the LHS football game told me all I needed to know about the man.
