Santa Claus coming to Lawrence

If you look to the skies above downtown Lawrence Friday evening, you just might see the return of St. Nick.
Santa Claus and his team of reindeer are expected to land on the roof of Weaver's Department Store, 901 Mass., at 6 p.m.
Crews from Lawrence Douglas County Fire Medical will use a ladder truck to “rescue” Santa from the roof.
From there, Santa makes his way to a stage in front of US Bank, where he’ll hear the holiday wishes of children and pose for pictures.
Santa’s arrival coincides with the lighting ceremony for the holiday lights that adorn downtown buildings and trees.
Carolers will start the Downtown Lawrence annual holiday lighting festivities at 5 p.m.
