Chiropractors donate 2 tons of food to LINK

For the past 19 years, Advanced Chiropractic Services, 1605 Wakarusa Drive, has collected food for the needy as part of its Patient Appreciation Day.

And every year, the amount of food collected increases, said Brandy Shackelford, chiropractic assistant.

This year, the amount collected tipped the scales at exactly 4,320 pounds.

“Just for fun, we weighed it and thought ‘wow,'” she said.

The business offers a free chiropractic adjustment for patients in exchange for a bag of food. Other businesses also pitched in by offering prizes for patients at Saturday’s event.

Shackelford said the event gives the staff and business a way to help out in the community. The food collected was donated to LINK, which will use the food at its agency and also distribute it to several area social service agencies.
