Capital outlay report on board’s agenda

The Lawrence school board will hear multiple reports at its meeting tonight, including a list of capital outlay priorities.

Capital outlay projects, which refer to building and facility improvements, will be outlined by importance. The funding for these projects come from a separate fund that cannot be used for general fund purposes, like salaries or instructional budgets.

Other reports listed on the agenda include an update on the Lawrence diploma completion program, and the career and technical education programs and partnerships through the district. The state has updated the secondary career clusters, and developed pathways to careers that have high demand and high skill that will lead students to post-secondary education or industry certification. The board will also be asked to approve secondary course descriptions for the 2010-11 school year.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. today at the Educational Support and Distribution Center, 110 McDonald Drive.
