To the editor:

Businesses and individuals across Douglas County care about this community and show it with their support of United Way. At the same time, nonprofits are challenged and continue to do more with less. They have to. Today more people, folks who have never before asked for help, are now asking. People who gave and volunteered in the past are now trying to figure out how the bills get paid.

United Way partners are seeing more and more first-time clients. This challenges the network of human services. Organizations will continue to improve lives, but we need everyone to do something to support these vital services. Thank you to everyone who has advocated, volunteered, or made a donation, big or small. You LIVE UNITED.
