Douglas County commissioners at their meeting today will consider authorizing staff members to solicit bids to repair the courthouse roof.

According to a memo from purchasing director Jackie Waggoner, a structural engineer has discovered deficiencies in three areas of the roof at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass. Two trouble spots are above the commission meeting room, and another is above the east stairwell.

Staff members anticipate repair costs to be $25,000 to $40,000, and Waggoner said funds have been allocated for the project.

Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. at the courthouse. After a recess, they will convene at 6:35 p.m. to discuss approving a conditional-use permit requested for a new booster station for Rural Water District No. 5 at 1292 N. 1100 Road.
