HVAC contract

Commissioners unanimously agreed to award a contract to maintain the heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems of the Lawrence Police Department Investigations and Training Center to P1 Group Inc.

The $26,568 contract was not the low bid for the service, but police department administrators recommended the contract because P1 was the only bidder that had a local technician available to respond to emergency repairs. The company also was the most experienced in servicing the particular type of equipment at the center, police officials said.

Manhattan-based Central Mechanical Construction had the low bid at $18,900. Lenexa-based Johnson Controls also submitted a bid for $25,000.
