21-year-old man taken to LMH after fight outside Granada

A 21-year-old man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning after sustaining injuries in a fight outside The Granada, 1020 Mass. St.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Michael McLaren, the fight broke out in the street outside the night club about 2 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived at the scene they observed a 21-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man who had been knocked unconscious in the roadway. McLaren said witnesses described the incident as a fight between several people. The main suspect was described as a black man about 5 feet, 7 inches tall without a shirt on. He fled the scene before officers arrived.

Medical crews arrived on the scene and transported the unconscious man by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital to be treated for head injuries.

During the incident a 21-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was arrested for battery of a law enforcement officer. The officer was attempting to help defuse the situation when he was shoved by the man.
