21-year-old man taken to LMH after fight outside Granada

A 21-year-old Missouri man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Sunday morning after being knocked unconscious during a fight outside The Granada. The main suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

A 21-year-old man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning after sustaining injuries in a fight outside The Granada, 1020 Mass. St.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Michael McLaren, the fight broke out in the street outside the night club about 2 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived at the scene they observed a 21-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man who had been knocked unconscious in the roadway. McLaren said witnesses described the incident as a fight between several people. The main suspect was described as a black man about 5 feet, 7 inches tall without a shirt on. He fled the scene before officers arrived.

Medical crews arrived on the scene and transported the unconscious man by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital to be treated for head injuries.

During the incident a 21-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was arrested for battery of a law enforcement officer. The officer was attempting to help defuse the situation when he was shoved by the man.

Luckily there are plenty of police out for the saturation patrol. Hope this guy is ok (and didn't bring it on himself).

If the Granada would bring back the blues ...Lee McBee, Jimmy Thackery, etc.....like they once did....wouldn't have to worry about it. Lee is a local guy and plays in KC and on the road.

Diffuse is a word. It means to break up/spread out/etc. The opposite of concentrate/centralize.

So it seems as if the Last Call and Moon Bar crowd has a new home...

So what is the common denominator for the violence/fights at the aforementioned bars? And what is it that would draw so many outstanding out-of-town citizens to our fair city?

What happened to carrying a concealed weapon for protection. Shoot some of these troublemakers and maybe the problem will go away.
