Visitors Bureau wins 2 marketing awards

The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau was presented with two marketing awards at the Travel Industry Association of Kansas’ annual meeting Oct. 18-20 in Overland Park.

The CVB earned awards for best print advertising campaign and for best overall advertising promotion, for a series of ads designed to lure Kansas University alumni back to Lawrence to revisit their college town. The awards were based on the aesthetic appeal, conceptual merit and innovation of the pieces. The Kansas I-70 Association, of which Lawrence is a member, was also recognized for its cooperatively produced informational brochure and map.

Other conference highlights included sessions on branding and marketing, the use of social media in the visitor industry, community engagement and economic development, as well as updates from the U.S. Travel Association and Kansas Lt. Gov. Troy Findley.
