Percheron hitch to join parade
Lawrence’s Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade will feature a new entry this year: The Ames Percheron Farm eight-horse hitch.
The hitch will act as an ambassador for Ames Construction Inc., which is a family-owned heavy construction company from Burnsville, Minn. The family tradition with the Percheron horses dates back 130 years.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Dec. 5. The route runs along Massachusetts Street from Seventh to 13th streets. Santa Claus will be the parade’s grand finale.
