One injured in single-vehicle accident west of Baldwin City

Man transported to hospital by air ambulance after a.m. accident

A man was transported by air ambulance to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City Sunday morning after a one-vehicle accident west of Baldwin City.

According to Lawrence Douglas County Fire Medical Division Chief Rob Kort, the accident occurred in the 1100 block of North 300 Road, about five miles west of Baldwin City on U.S. Highway 56.

Kort said the man was not in stable condition immediately following the accident.

The accident happened when the man’s Dodge pickup truck left the roadway and landed in a ditch. The injured man was the only person in the vehicle.

Crews first received a call to the scene at 8:10 a.m. and the helicopter was on its way to the hospital by about 8:30 a.m.
