To the editor:
This is in regards to the new homeless shelter. Not all homeless people are bad. There are some that are on hard times and trying to get back up. Myself and my wife were homeless here in Lawrence almost two years ago. It’s hard to find a place to stay where the cops don’t mess with you, so I applaud the efforts of Loring Henderson and the staff at the shelter for trying to make Lawrence a safer and helpful place for homeless people. Those of you who are down on the homeless, try being homeless yourselves before judging us!!!

We hear about every “bad” homeless person, but little about those who make it out. We need to hear more of these stories.
It is even worse for married couples as the shelter is not set up for this. Men and women must of course sleep in different sections.
Congrats to you and your wife and I hope you are doing well.

I still say house all of them in the old Food-4-Less building that is still standing empty. Just need a bunch of cots and you'd be in business. Is a liquor store close by though….possible draw-back.
