KU students can attend Oxfam banquet

Kansas University’s Student Union Activities and the KU Oxfam chapter will be host to the 2009 Oxfam America Hunger Banquet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Big 12 and Jayhawk rooms in the Kansas Union.

The annual event is aimed at increasing awareness about poverty, hunger and social justice. Participants at the event will receive a meal card indicating either a high-, middle-, or low-class income status. That card will then determine the type of meal they will receive during the dinner.

Jim French, lead agricultural organizer for Oxfam America, will speak during the event.

The event is free and open to KU students, but students must pick up a voucher from the SUA Box Office on the fourth level of the Kansas Union to participate.

For more information, call the SUA box office at 864-7469.
