Century-old Kansas banks plan to merge

? Two century-old banks in northeast Kansas will merge in July.

The combination of Citizens State Bank and Garnett State Savings Bank will be known as GSSB.

The institution will have about $110 million in assets and five locations — two in Garnett and one each in Ottawa, Pomona and Colony.

Citizens State Bank president Mike Skidmore said the blending of assets will put Citizens on more level lending ground by nearly quadrupling the lending limits.
