County reopens west entrance to courthouse

The west entrance to the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass., has reopened after a restoration project on the historic building.

County Administrator Craig Weinaug said the public can now use the entrance that faces Massachusetts Street. However, the entrance will not have any hand rails for the short term, as they are still being installed.

Anyone who needs hand rails should use the east entrance.

Last year, a contractor began work on more than $1 million of the first phase of restoration work, mostly to the western exterior of the courthouse.
