All eyes were on the sky as severe storms moved through the area Friday, postponing the Sunflower League track meet Friday at the Olathe District Activities Complex. Related story on page 3C.

Olathe ? The conclusion of the Sunflower League track and field meet was postponed to Monday because of heavy rains and severe weather that moved through the area beginning around 4 p.m. Friday.

The heavy stuff did not hit the Olathe District Activities Complex until around 5:30. At that point, the preliminary races in all of the track events had been completed. The only field events that had been completed were the girls high jump and girls javelin. No Lawrence athletes placed in either event.

The meet will resume at 4 p.m. Monday.

“The preparation for the meet itself isn’t that big of a deal,” Free State coach Steve Heffernan said. “It’s just that now the kids are out of balance for regionals next week.”
