Free State baseball beats up on BVN

? Free State High’s baseball team smashed 13 hits in a 10-1 victory over Blue Valley North on Monday.

The Firebirds had gone 10 innings without a run until a five-hit, four-run fourth.

Connor Stremel, Preston Schenck, Adam Petz, Ryan Scott and Mike Lisher each had two hits for FSHS.

Colin Toalson struck out eight, walked one and allowed two hits in six innings.

Cody Kukuk struck out two, walked one and gave up an unearned run in one inning.

“We generated some things offensively that had been lacking for us,” Free State coach Mike Hill said. “Toalson was outstanding for us. He’d thrown a couple innings all year. To control the game in the manner he did was beneficial, not only today, but put us in better position for tomorrow’s game.”
