Kansas City, Mo. Free State was shut out for the first time this season Saturday in a 6-0 high school baseball loss to Savannah, Mo.
The Firebirds (14-3) managed just five hits, falling behind 2-0 after one inning and 5-0 after three. Cody Kukuk’s double was the Firebirds’ only extra-base hit.
“We certainly played a good baseball team today,” Free State coach Mike Hill said. “We weren’t able to match their performance.”
Free State will play at Blue Valley North on Monday.
