If you’re looking for a good deal and want to support a good cause, head to downtown Lawrence on May 16 and 17.

Independence Inc. will be host to “Ready, Set, Shop for a Cause” — a shopping event to raise money for the organization that provides services to people with disabilities in the community.

For $25, you can buy a ticket that gets you a reusable shopping bag, filled with deals and coupons good at local businesses in downtown Lawrence.

More than 30 businesses have offered discounts, free gifts and other deals for the event.

Representatives from Independence Inc. will be selling advance tickets Saturday and May 9 at the corner of Ninth and Massachusetts streets.

It’s the first time the organization has conducted the fundraiser, which it says is the first event of its kind in Lawrence.
