Report support

March 31, 2009

To the editor:

I am writing in support of the Mayor’s Climate Protection Task Force. Mayor Dever, along with many dedicated citizens, have crafted a document to help guide our community toward less carbon output, greater energy efficiency and a more sustainable future. They are to be praised for the hours of volunteer time they invested toward our collective well-being.

The final draft from the task force will be presented at tonight’s City Commission meeting. I would like to encourage all who can to attend this meeting and give their support.

I am pleased that the city is working to accommodate climate change. That said, the approach reflects elements of coercion. I am fearful of government coercion as it has for us historically resulted in significant impact to the innocent. Zealots, when they pursue their goals, apparently become very pragmatic and really do not care who gets hurt. Are we going to do that here? Please surprise me?

Why do environmentalist retards talk about "carbon output" and "carbon footprint" when the supposed culprit is not carbon, but carbon dioxide? That right there indicates that they are scientifically bereft and no doubt completely out to lunch on this whole thing.

The difference between "carbon" and "carbon dioxide" is like the difference between "lightning" and "lightning bug".
