Military jobs

March 24, 2009

To the editor:

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the connection between the Army’s decision to end their stop-loss policy (otherwise known as the “back-door draft”) and the current sorry state of the economy (“So needed,” Journal-World, March 20). Where else but the military can a young person turn to today and be assured of steady employment?

While there are many reasons behind the economic collapse, one of the major causes is the false notion that it is possible to fight wars without fiscal sacrifice. Thank goodness that the scoundrels who stole our retirement funds can now politely (and legally!) continue the physical sacrifice of our children without resorting to such drastic and unfair policies.

Ray Finch,
