Grievous error

To the editor:

In the headline of the March 15 newspaper, you proclaim “Big 12 championship –Tigers take title,” and the sub-headline to the article states, “MU claims first league crown in 16 years.” I would have expected a Missouri newspaper to have printed this false information, but not the Jayhawks’ hometown paper. As everyone knows, Kansas was the Big 12 champion this year, Oklahoma was second and Missouri was third.

However, Missouri did win the “Big 12 tournament championship.” There is a large difference in winning a post-season three-day tournament and winning a season-long 16-game schedule, of which half of those games were on the opponents’ court. I sincerely hope that the old coach, Don Fambrough, sees this colossal misstatement and demands a retraction of this grievous error.
