Unfair attack

To the editor:

To read the latest Journal-World Saturday Column, one would think President Obama views the current economic crisis as nothing more than an opportunity to advance a liberal agenda. Give him credit. He is trying to preserve a way of life by cleaning up the mess left by bankers, insurance companies, automotive manufacturers, and the past administration. The column fails to mention their role in this at all.

Their irresponsible behavior in the last eight years reflects the ideology of excessive capitalism President Obama has every reason to oppose. The author of the column tries to defend that ideology while neglecting more important realities. From the daily reporting of lost homes, interrupted careers, halted educations and failed businesses that now litter the economic landscape, it should be clear to even a right-wing newspaper publisher that the president’s actions have a basis in reality.

Instead of falsely accusing President Obama of the faults of the last president, the Journal-World would do better to deal with the truth of these hard times. If you don’t want politics as usual, don’t practice it.
