Man arrested in connection with double stabbing

A 27-year-old Lawrence man arrested in connection with a double stabbing Saturday morning was released from jail on $30,000 bond, pending a March 24 hearing in Douglas County District Court, law enforcement officials said.

The stabbings happened during a fight in the parking lot of Burger King, 1301 W. 23rd St., Lawrence police said.

Sgt. Ted Bordman said a 22-year-old man was sent to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with severe but nonlife-threatening wounds to his torso. A police report indicates the victim was a Baker University student living in Baldwin City.

A 27-year-old man was transported via air ambulance to a Kansas City area hospital with a severe laceration to his arm, police said. Information on his condition was not available Monday.

A police report indicates a knife was used during at least one of the stabbings.

The incident began as two vehicles left Club Axis, 821 Iowa, Bordman said. One vehicle cut off another as they traveled southbound on Iowa Street, leading to the fight, police said.

Charges have not yet been formally filed against the suspect.
