LHS bowlers finish 5th at state
Olathe ? The Lawrence High bowling team finished in fifth place at the Class 6A state tournament on Saturday at Olathe East Lanes.
Tanner Kilmer led the Lions with a 683 series, finishing in eighth place overall. Following Kilmer was Chad Boyd (623), Ben Wyatt (589), Tyler Bailey (583), Josh Russell (505) and Matt Weber (495).
“I think it was a remarkably intense environment,” LHS coachTom Birt said.
Birt said for his team to finish about 30 pins out of third place was “pretty cool.”
“I’m really proud of these guys,” Birt said.
Nine teams competed in the tournament.
Andrew Schoneweiss was Free State’s only individual qualifier. The senior and first-year bowler finished in 38th with a 594 series.
