Job connections

To the editor:

We want to thank the community for their support and participation in our Community Career Connection event on June 16.

Our goal was to help people who have been impacted by the downturn in the economy. We hoped to assist them in their transition to new employment by providing them with information and skills they could use to improve their job search. Most of all, we wanted to let them know that there are many people in this community who care about what happens to them. The feedback we have received has been very positive. We believe we met our goal based on the comments we received from participants.

Approximately 30 employers were represented at the job fair. Hopefully, many of these companies will use contacts from Community Career Connection to fill current and future open positions.

We would also like to express our thanks to the businesses and organizations that helped make the Community Career Connection a success. This event happened with no budget because of in-kind services, time, donated items and a dedication to giving something back to the community. The enthusiastic support of the people and organizations who contributed speaks volumes about what a community can do to help others.

We are looking forward to another event on October 23. We hope the community will save this date and go to www.communitycareerconnection.com for event information and updates later this summer.
