Volunteers needed for golf events

Golf tournament helpers are needed. Have fun helping Lawrence Amateur Golf Association raise money for the “life support” services for kids and adults provided by Headquarters Counseling Center. The City Tournament is July 11 and 12. The Scramble is Aug. 7. Golfer info is at www.lawrencegolf.org. Volunteer helpers are needed for each day. No golf experience is required.

• Looking for a unique volunteer opportunity? Become a volunteer SHICK counselor and help Medicare beneficiaries make informed decisions about their health insurance options. Many volunteer options are available, including comprehensive Medi-care counselor, Part C/D counselor, call center operator, education and outreach, and office assistant.

Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas volunteer training will be Tuesday and Wednesday. Call Douglas County Senior Services at 842-0543, ext. 109, to register, or download a volunteer application at dgcoseniorservices.org.

• The Delaware River Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy (WRAPS) seeks volunteers to assist with water quality protection and education projects. Projects include planting vegetation in bioretention cells; putting up watershed signs in the watershed; developing and distributing materials to educate the public about watershed and water quality concepts; and working with school children, teachers or the public at watershed education events.
