Free State’s Hull twins earn all-state honors

Several other area softball players named all-state

A year after missing their entire junior season of high school softball because of torn ACL’s, Free State High seniors Rosie Hull and Maggie Hull earned all-state Class 6A honors in 2009.

Rosie Hull was one of five outfielders named to the Kansas Softball Coaches Association all-state first team this season. She hit .507 for the Firebirds this season and led the team in stolen bases.

Maggie Hull, meanwhile, was one of five outfielders to earn second-team honors. She hit .470 on the season and was one of the most feared hitters in the Sunflower League.

Also earning KSCA all-state honors were: Lauren Himpel, Tonganoxie; Shelby Erickson and Courtney Kasson, Perry-Lecompton; Shelby Miller, Mikela Scott and Hailie Ray, Ottawa; Bailey Scott and Evan Folks, Eudora; Alex Zordel, Baldwin; and Kendall Patterson, Lezley Lawson, Missy Rome and Kaley Patterson, McLouth.
