Career Connection event offers help to job-seekers on Tuesday

People looking for work can find help Tuesday at Community Career Connection, set for 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pinnacle Career Institute, 1601 W. 23rd St., Suite 200, in Lawrence.

The event, organized by area human-resources professionals, will include workshops, seminars and one-on-one advice for people engaged in job hunts or otherwise preparing for seeking employment.

Experts are lined up to advise participants on everything from compiling appropriate résumés and cover letters to dressing for success on a budget, performing well in interviews and networking among friends and colleagues to locate job opportunities.

A job fair also will feature exhibits from more than 30 area employers, whether they’re hiring now or likely to be doing so once the economy recovers, said Shirley Martin-Smith, an event organizer and owner of Martin-Smith Personnel Services and the Adecco franchise in Lawrence.
