Registration opens for Rock Chalk … Run!

It’s one day early, but runners can still finish in a 5K or 10K race on Saturday in the same spot where 2,000 triathletes will end up as part of the Ironman 70.3 Kansas on Sunday.

The Rock Chalk … Run! at 8 a.m. at Clinton State Park will raise funds for the Health Care Access clinic, which provides medical care to the uninsured in Douglas County.

Organizers say the money will help fund staff members and an effort to move the clinic to a larger building close to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Runners can pick up packets from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at campground No. 3 at the state park or from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the campground.

Runners can enter the race up to 30 minutes before the 8 a.m. start. More information about the run is available at www.rockchalkrun.com or by calling 841-5760.

The triathlon begins at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Clinton State Park.
