Volunteers needed for senior services

Douglas County Senior Services is seeking volunteers who can educate and assist the public to make informed decisions about Medicare options.

They would serve under the state’s Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Seniors program. SHICK volunteer counselors provide free, unbiased and confidential assistance to beneficiaries, their caregivers and others who have questions about Medicare. There are different areas that people can volunteer in: comprehensive Medicare counselor, Medicare Part C/D counselor, call center operator, education and outreach volunteer, and office assistant.

Training will be offered June 23, June 24 and June 30. The amount of training varies.

For more information on becoming a volunteer, contact Ashley Schemm or Dacia McCabe Maher at 842-0543.
