Adults need helmets, too

To the editor:

One of the sights I love to see around Lawrence is whole families biking somewhere together. What a healthy and inexpensive family activity! But often I am flabbergasted to see that, while the kids are wearing bike helmets, the parents are not.

Parents, adulthood does not make you immune to serious head injury, and disaster can happen in a split second. If you end up incapacitated or dead because of a head injury, what will become of your children? Please, if you care enough about your children to have them wear helmets, please care about them enough to wear a helmet yourself.
