Credible voices
To the editor:
Regarding the July 21 Journal-World article which raised the issue of whether bloggers should be required to identify themselves, I would prefer knowing the identity of the writer. Without the cloak of secrecy, comments will be more responsible, more credible. Accountability would improve the quality of the public discussion, hopefully discouraging comments that are mean-spirited, hurtful or intolerant. In fact, if more bloggers were identified, maybe more people would read them and take them more seriously. Responsible and attributable speech is always better than whispering from the shadows.
