Criminal charges were filed Friday against a 37-year-old Lawrence man, who is accused of having illegal sexual relations with a teenager, prosecutors said.

The suspect was charged with criminal sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He made his first appearance Friday in Douglas County District Court.

Lawrence police said the case involved a 15-year-old girl and the crimes allegedly occurred at a south Lawrence home last weekend.

Police arrested the suspect Thursday. He’s being held in the Douglas County Jail on $70,000 bond, pending a return to court on Thursday.
