Ordinance change allows chickens, ducks

Commissioners gave approval to a zoning change that will allow residents to keeps ducks and chickens on their property, if they meet certain requirements.

The ordinance, which commissioners gave tentative approval to earlier this year, would limit property owners to one chicken or duck per 500 square feet of lot area, with no more than 20 chickens or ducks on any single piece of property.

The ordinance also prohibits roosters because of noise concerns.
