The Salvation Army still is seeking volunteers for its “Christmas in July” fundraising campaign.

The campaign runs Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 1, and instead of bell-ringing, volunteers will dance to Christmas-themed beach music. Volunteers are needed to help at the three campaign locations: Checkers Foods, 2300 La., and the Hy-Vee Food Stores at 4000 W. Sixth St. and 3504 Clinton Parkway.

To volunteer or for more information, contact Aaron Smith at 843-4188, Ext. 102, or by e-mail at aaron_smith@usc.salvationarmy.org.

This is what happened in '78. No one volunteered, so the Salvation Army started drafting people. I caught a hangnail on some guys woolen sweater and almost bled to death in front of a Winn-Dixie.
