Douglas County AIDS Project to display AIDS Quilt panels

The Douglas County AIDS Project will be displaying AIDS quilt panels at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. The quilt panels were created by members of DCAP’s Quilting Circle in recognition of the agency’s 20th anniversary.

Each of the panels displayed is dedicated to the memory of someone who has died of AIDS, said Elena Ivanov, DCAP executive director. The goal of the quilt project, Ivanov said, mirrors that of DCAP’s mission of raising awareness of and preventing the spread of HIV and AIDS.

At the end of July, the panels will be added to the NAMES Project Foundation’s AIDS Memorial Quilt. The quilt was started in 1987, and features sections from all over the world.

The display closes at the end of July.
