Military dollars

July 9, 2009

To the editor:

Sounds like Mr. Gurley has lost faith in the dollar (“U.S. must restore faith in monetary system,” Journal-World, July 5). So what if we are indebted up to our ears (and those of our great-grandchildren)? We have the strongest military on the planet and, as peace-loving Americans, will not hesitate to employ it (under the guise of fighting terror, tyranny or totalitarianism) to maintain the American dream of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

This non stop multi trillion war for to control oil is not benefitting the economy nor improving friendships.

Why were the oil fields the first objects secured?

How would any of us feel if we were losing family members daily?

Is everybody living in the mideast a terrorist? Absolutely not. So why do we eradicate entire communities?

Why has the USA government built 52 military bases in Iraq?

Why is the US government busy occupying Afghanistan and Pakistan?

Isn't all the above abuse of our military people?

War Profiteers

CRIME: Which party held secret energy meetings and refused our elected officials its' content and who attended? GW Bush and the republicans!

CRIME: Which party lied to congress and the world, went against military advice and created the worst strategic blunder in the history of the USA aka Iraq War? Republican Party!

Secret oil deals with Saudi Arabia?

CRIME: Secret Oil deals for Iraq Oil

CRIME AGAINST DEMOCRACY : PNAC's policy document, "Rebuilding America's Defences," openly advocates for total global military domination. Many PNAC members hold highest-level positions in the George W. Bush administration.

Seeing as though the division of the company I work for is exclusively involved in military equipment, I am happy that the war is profitable, because that means I still have a job. Sorry, Merrill, that stuff isn't going to work on me today (like it does any other day)...I am about to go see a movie, have a nice lunch out, and maybe go to a bar tonight...all because of the military. I kinda like them...and there is more to war than oil, genius.

I must say, because of the topic, this is the first time in about, well, it seems like 12 years, that I have actually read a tiny fraction of your post.

A large percent of idiots wanted change, voted for it, and now we have it. I suspect if this keeps on, we will have another civil war. Thank you, Lynn
