Kansas University’s Danielle McCray started and scored nine points as the U.S. women’s basketball team smashed France, 118-30, in its World University Games opener Wednesday in Belgrade, Serbia.

McCray, a 5-foot-11 senior from Olathe, added two rebounds and an assist during 16 minutes of duty as coach Charli Turner Thorne substituted liberally during the blowout.

The U.S. team forced 44 turnovers and shot 56.1 percent from the floor. McCray made all three of her field-goal attempts and was 3-for-4 from the free throw line.

The U.S. will continue pool play today against Great Britain.
