Officers are investigating the reported rape of a homeless person at a Lawrence business, police said.

Police said they discovered the incident at 7:21 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of West Sixth Street. Officers had been called to the scene because of an unknown emergency.

A 59-year-old man was arrested on charges of rape and possession of stolen property, Douglas County Jail records show.

The 44-year-old rape victim was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Officers at the scene also arrested a 36-year-old Lawrence man on charges of theft and criminal damage to property. He was released from jail Friday on $200 bond, jail records indicate.
