Compassion?

To the editor:

We have here in Lawrence, Kansas, many homeless families (with young children). We’ve had many weeks of temperatures below 20 or even 10 degrees. We have several individuals and churches here who have opened their doors and shown their willingness to do something about it (within the Family Promise organization). Family Promise has a nationwide record of success in helping homeless families find homes. Its operation incurs no cost, whatsoever, to the city.

The City Commission has had ample time to consider its approval for this very-deserving work of true charity. In the name of compassion, dear city commissioners, just do it.
