UMB reports quarterly gains of 32 percent

? UMB Financial Corp., a financial services holding company, saw its fourth quarter 2008 earnings increase 32 percent over the same quarter in 2007.

Earnings for the three months ending Dec. 31 amounted to $20.08 million, an increase of $4.9 million over the previous year’s fourth quarter ($15.3 million).

Earnings for all of 2008 was $98.1 million, which also was a 32 percent increase over 2007.

“Throughout our 96-year history, a high-quality balance sheet and strong capital ratios have been at the core of our operating performance, and have resulted in UMB posting a strong fourth quarter and record year,” UMB chief executive Mariner Kemper said.
