Topeka ? Free State placed second at the Topeka Invitational on Tuesday, highlighted by a pair of first-time, state-qualifying relays.

The Firebirds’ 200 medley relay team of Nolan Frank, Eric Gruber, Alec Wroten and Tony Libeer qualified for state with a time of 1:47.23, while the 400 free relay team of Wroten, Frank, Julian McCafferty and Logan Sloan finished with a time of 3:34.68.

Lawrence High took fifth with 233 points.
