Wrong sister
To the editor:
I was disappointed to read that Lawrence is moving forward with a Sister City in Greece. Greece is a beautiful and historic country. However, establishing a Sister City there will do nothing to further one of the main benefits of the Sister City program, which is the development and improvement of skills in modern languages.
We urgently need to establish a Sister City in a Spanish-speaking country to give our young people real-life experiences with the language and cultures of most of the Americas. I do not feel that Lawrence needs a third Sister City at all, if it will not meet that goal.
Kimberley Kreicker,
Lawrence
