To the editor:

For those parents who wish to teach their children, and I do not mean very young children, about the Holocaust, take them to see “The Boy in Striped Pajamas” at Liberty Hall. The movie contains no graphic scenes but is extremely powerful nonetheless. The film was done in English, but all of the actors brought out the true nature of their characters, from SS officers to the family of the concentration camp commander to the victims. What the Nazis did to Jews, Poles, Russians, and other peoples must never be forgotten or denied as some persons now do. This movie reminds us that these events occurred less than 70 years ago.

Well, if you want to teach children, and I don't mean young children, about a holocaust, just take them to Gaza today. The strongest, well supplied military might in the world is killing hundreds every day because they raised a rucus about getting some food, medical supplies and jobs in an area of the world that has been bombed and burned so that there are no means of employment, groves or land to grow fruit and vegatables, etc. Killing people over politics is simply a holocaust and the bombing is today's gas chambers.

I don't think anyone's forgotten the holocaust. Hell, it's taught in a lot of American history classes, for some reason, to the exclusion of, you know, American history. And mimis_friend, it might be easier to drum up more sympathy for the Palestinians -- who to be fair, have a lot of legitimate grievances, and are among the more oppressed people on earth -- if you didn't post things that are completely incorrect/dishonest. Emphasis on "completely."

"Mimis_friend (Anonymous) says… Well, if you want to teach children, and I don't mean young children, about a holocaust, just take them to Gaza today."Ah yes, mimi chimes in with her usual poorly hidden "I hate Jews" post.

Mimi wrote the equavilent of breaking Godwin's Law. If I know my history correctly....Jews did not fire rockets into Germany and did not hide behind/brainwash/subjugate women and children. Jews did not hide weapons in their places of worship. Like I said a couple days ago...if a Quebec separatist group fired missiles into the United States and the Canadian government did nothing about it, we would and have every right to go into Canada and do something about it. As for the Holocaust (and really any general World War II history), watch the 1980's miniseries "War and Rememberance." I am suprised they played some of those scenes on network televison (and doubt they would even think of playing it now).

I think poor Mimis_friend doesn't understand the meaning of holocaust. If "The strongest, well supplied military might in the world" really wanted to exterminate the Palestinians, we wouldn't be having this discussion now, since they would have been wiped out of existence long, long ago.

Mimia_friend does not hate Jews or semites, because she is one. She hates when any people are occupied by others and are made to starve, go without medical supplies and are always under the whim of the occupier- this is called oppression and no people on earth, including Jews, should be subjected to that. The Hamas is wrong in firing missles into Israel, but what other means did they have of attracting attention to the fact that the Palestinians are starving to death? What would you do? Write a letter to your congressman?

"really wanted to exterminate the Palestinians, we wouldn't be having this discussion now, since they would have been wiped out of existence long, long ago."This is an idiotic argument. What little restraint Israel shows in its attacks on its neighbors, which are many times more deadly and destructive than what is inflicted on Israel, is mainly out if its concern not to horrify its main benefactor too much, thus ensuring the continued flow of $3 billion a year in US taxpayer funds. This allows it to continue the war of attrition against Palestinians, which the Palestinians are losing badly.

The blame is on both sides, snap. But as long as US government policy essentially finds no blame on Israel's side, and funds its attacks on its neighbors, there will be no end to the violence.

Marion, since you support Holocaust Deniers, what do you say about this movie?

"Hamas and the palestinian authority are spending all their money on rockets, mortars and explosives."But they are dying in much greater numbers than Israelis. And why? Because Israelis get to spend $3 billion in US tax dollars every year on F-16's, tanks, cluster bombs, Blackhawk helicopters, phosphorus shells, etc., etc., etc.

Besides the fact that several hundred does not quite compare to several million (well, I guess both numbers are equally unfathomable to someone like you that can't count beyond 10 without taking off his shoes), besides the fact that the holocaust was not provoked by hostile actions on the part of Hitler's victims, the stated goal of the holocaust was the complete extermination of the Jewish people (and anyone else who wasn't Aryan - the Israelis been going after the gypsies lately, have they?). As I stated, if that was the Israeli goal, they could and would have accomplished it long, long ago. They have never exactly been reluctant to risk alienating anyone in the pursuance of their national security.I'm amazed, Herr boohoozo - you usually don't miss an opportunity to spew your anti-Semitism, yet here you are a couple of days late and more than a few brain cells short. The power been out in mommy's basement?
