Chancellor pick

To the editor:

Kansas University again is searching for a chancellor. When the search started for Hemenway, the same old worn-out methods were used, just as now. A lame committee at best will be established. It is almost like the committees that were established for the startup of the T; Lawrence is a city known for experimenting but, in the end, not finding a cure.

KU needs someone connected with Lawrence. KU needs someone, perhaps, who went to KU. KU needs someone with a background in business and managing money. KU needs someone connected to the history of the university and the community. KU needs someone who understands the athletic program. KU needs someone who has a good relationship with the alums.

KU needs someone who would be visible and credible in attracting new students. KU needs a leader. KU needs someone who understands the value of an education. KU needs a leader that has already proven to be a leader. More importantly, KU needs someone who understands Kansas and the Midwest. Hire a proven leader, a native of Kansas and for the next chancellor, that would be: Gale Sayers.
